2001.5 6spd s4. Ok so as im taking the car around my block for a morning spin after washing it, i notice that my brake pedal is starting to become extremely stiff to the point where it doesnt move, my abs and brake light come on as well as the center yellow warning light telling me to check my brakes AND it seems as if the brakes are locking up by themselves, the car starts slowing and once i am stopped i cannot get the car to move again. it goes into gear just fine, it just seems that the brakes are locked up and the car wont move. Does anyone know what this is caused by? Has anyone experienced this problem before? Some input would be greatly appreciated.

A 07 audi 2.0T. Never owned an Audi before I was hoping to hear some reviews from people And your thoughts on a few things.

Is not having quattro a dealbreaker?

I've also heard that this engine burns through oil really quickly. Is that true and if so how quickly?

Any other things I should be aware of? I'm always nervous about audis because of mechanical problems but 34mpg on the highway or so it says is making me think hard about one.

Anyone familiar with the blue drain plug on the A6 radiator. I recently replaced the heater core (ausitnaldo's step-by-step writeup proved invaluable!!!)and when bleeding the coolant system i noticed a slow drip from the blue radiator drain plug on the lower passenger side (hisis where i drained the coolant to minimize coolant leaking all over the garage duting the heater core removal). Anyone know if this is something typical? Is there an easy fix? Am i looking at a new radiator?
Any help or thoughts will be much appreciated.

My A3 has an intermitant high pitched whistle...

My A3 has an intermitant high pitched whistle which comes from the back of the engine compartment on the drivers side. The noise can be from a cold start or occur part way through a journey. The pitch sometimes changes or the noise disappears if I press the throtle. Strangely the noise can continue loudly for 30 secs or so after the engine is switched off, and then sounds like an aircraft powering off after landing. Despite the noise being a daily occurance now, my car seems to have a second sense and is never making the noise when I get to the Audi dealer so they are unable to offer any constructive advice

Hi! Today I was doing the gaskets on my A6. While I was compressing the cam tensioner with the wonderful tool I've got it (the tool) just broke... I don't know if I'm too strong (;-)) or i went too far, but when the tool was gone the tensioner was compressed enough to be empty of oil. For my surprise, even without the tool, the tensioner remained still in the full compressed position. I was able to play with it compressing and pulling it all the way as well as to replace the tensioner gaskets with no problems. After putting all back together, i didn't notice anything wrong and no strange noises. Weel, now I have to do the driver's side... but no tool. My question is: do I really need this tool? From my experience described above, it seems that if I simply compress the tensioner by hand slowly and all the way donw then it will remain in this position and I'll be able to do the job normally. Am I right? On the passenger side the story was more or less like this.. Thanks alot!!!

Lesson learned the hard way. I didn't address the Pastore chip problem (pre-detonation) in time, and I paid the ultimate price....threw a rod, the motor is toast. I wasnt' even hammering on it seriously, so the damage must have been done over months.

So I am sitting on a black/black S4, 118,000 miles, RS2 turbo, exhaust manifold, injectors, Eibach & billsteins, 993TT brembo front calipers, HID lights, European S4 tail light cluster, fantastic interior, exterior very nice. Everything works (well, except the motor).

1) What is this worth, as is?
2) Does anyone know someone sitting on a nice 20VT motor looking for such a car to put it in?

Where is the icon of the guy smashing his head against the wall? Insert here. Large dunce cap on top.

So endeth a 13+ year love affair with 20VTurbo Audis. Time to try something newer and different for someone with little time to properly attend to such sweet vehicles.

I just replaced the engine in my 93 audi 90s FWD automatic 160k. I have it running and driving but I cant seem to remember where my wiring for the radiator fans go. The brown wires are for ground, easy enough but, It is thermostatically controlled so the positive wires which is black with a red stripe go somewhere special.

Where do they go!??

Everything helps.
Thanks
